Walk Out Wednesdays

Updated: Apr 24

>>> Find Walk Out Wednesday Rally Locations Here: WOW-List | NH Forward

We are witnessing firsthand, the dismantling of our country and watching it being sold-off piecemeal for parts to loathsome oligarchs! The right wing lunatics are decimating essential services, vital government agencies, stripping citizens of our safeties and protections, weakening our diplomacy and our international trust, detaining and deporting individuals without just cause and with zero due process, and thumbing their noses at all rule of law!

"The time is now for us to show our strength, our power, our numbers and our resilience, and we do that with Walk Out Wednesdays."

We all know it is long past time to heat up our resistance in fighting the fascists that have taken over our government. And the only way we win this fight is to STOP participating in business as usual. The time is now for us to show our strength, our power, our numbers and our resilience, and we do that with Walk Out Wednesdays. Here’s how it will go…

Each and every Wednesday we will protest vigorously between the hours of 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM. We don’t have to assemble in groups of thousands or set up any fancy programs. We just need to turn out, in groups big or small, to hold signs, to yell out. In our neighborhoods, on overpasses, at local shopping centers, along our town main streets. We show up every single fucking Wednesday, rain or shine!

Will You Need to Walk Off the Job?

The protest time matters – 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM during the evening commute. That may mean some of you may need to leave work early. If that is the case, petition your employer to PAY you for the hour or two you may be absent from work. Tell them to support your civic participation – be forceful in this request. Afterall, you are fighting to save our country, for them as well as for you, your family, and all we hold dear.

If your employer supports you and covers your “civic” time, (maybe there are arrangements made so that employees can take turns using “Civic Time”), we want to know about that. We’ll be posting up pages to highlight employers that know that, they too, must support the resistance and fight for our country.

And conversely, if your employer does NOT support you leaving early for vital civic engagement, we want to know that too. We’ll anonymously target them with SHAME campaigns and boycotts.

NH Forward will be drafting a letter that can be shared with employers, and which we can send on your behalf if you like, explaining to them the urgency of this effort and to encourage them to join us, and even support us in this truly existential fight!

Part Two of the Plan – BOYCOTT!

In addition to the Walk Out, we will also boycott. We’ll boycott from 6:00 PM every Wednesday until Monday morning. We need to demonstrate that WE control the levers of the economy and if those who want our labor and our dollars do not respect us, and do not treat us fairly, we must show them that we have the power to run them into the ground!

The boycott will target bad corporate actors, particularly those that work hard for their own gains without regard for the damage they leave in their wake. Entities like petroleum companies, banks, companies denouncing DEI initiatives, those paying low wages and offering little to no benefits, or otherwise exploit hard working people desperate to put food on their tables..

Boycott the Bad While Supporting the Good

But our boycott does not mean ZERO spending. While we withhold dollars from bad corporate entities, it opens a space for us to explore new ways of acquiring the things we need, and to find ways to shop small and to shop local. Maybe we pick up a few things at our local farmers market. Maybe we check out the small boutique shops on our own main streets. Maybe we find things we need at local thrift shops, or on internet marketplaces.

Our 4-day boycott is our opportunity to figure out how to break our addiction to big business and to forge a new plan for what goods we actually need and how we acquire them, resulting in more wholesome, more robust local economies.

Commit to Walk Out Wednesdays!

Make a commitment to participate in Walk Out Wednesdays. Organize with your neighbors, friends and coworkers to show up on a street corner, shopping plaza or overpass. Show up to demonstrations as much as you possibly can. Learn to shop small and shop local to support small business owners. If we all commit to participate, we will show corporate America that it is the PEOPLE that have the power!
